What A Weekend!

O.K. so Saturday, we decided to take the kids

to McCall to see the ice/snow sculptures at the

Winter Festival. That morning Spencer took care of

his church calling in overseeing the cleaning of

our ward building. A mission buddy of his lives in

our ward and he and his family were a part

of the cleaning crew that morning, so Spencer

invited them over for dinner after church

the next day. Which was totally fine,

we've been meaning to have them over for the

past 7 months. Well . . . about 10 min. before

we left for McCall, Spencer got a phone call from

our Stake Presidents office informing him that

he and I had a meeting with the Stake President

at 8:30 Sunday morning.

(O.K. so Spencer's nerves were a complete wreck

for the rest of the day and night.)

We've never had that long to think about it.

Anyway, we did make it to McCall,

and the sculptures were amazing!

So glad we went before they melt.

This one looks like the dragon is trying to eat someone. :) The rest of the story . . . we make it to the Stake building

Sunday morning and after a getting to know you

conversation, and informing us that our ward is

being split and is getting a new bishopric,

he asks Spencer to be the 1st councilor in

the new Paramount ward bishopric. There was a

meeting that night at 7:00 to inform the 3 wards

who were involved, and the releasing and sustaining

of the bishoprics. (They took three wards,

and rearranged the boundaries to make a fourth ward.

Two of the four got new bishoprics.)

It was an awesome experience! After excepting, he told

us who the bishop was. It was no surprise to us,

Bishop Carter is an amazing man and Spencer feels

very grateful to have this opportunity to work with him.

They never did tell us who the 2nd councilor was.

O.K. so of course all through church everyone was

speculating on what was going to happen. They all knew

about the meeting that night. After church we

had Trent and his family over for dinner,

visiting briefly about the

events of the night, but not going into it much.

To end this long story, at the meeting that night,

we found out that Trent, Spencer's mission buddy,

was the 2nd councilor. It was great! After, we laughed

about it saying if we only knew each other was in

there, our conversations at dinner would have

been a lot different. But I guess it's best we didn't know.

We are excited about this opportunity to serve the Lord.

(I just know that I'm back to being the skunk row in

sacrament meeting.)

No one ever wants to sit by us, because the kids are too loud. :)

I know that Spencer will do a great job, and

our family will be blessed. Heaven only knows

we need that right now. :)

Oh, and to make the story even better,

my dad was put in as 1st councilor in his

wards new bishopric in Mesquite the same day! :)
