A Hunting We Will Go . . . .

Spencer and his Dad drew hunting tags for NV.

Spencer got a cow elk and a buck tag.

He was very excited for the hunt!

They packed up the jeep and headed for the hills

last Thursday (Oct. 2) to hunt the elk.

They returned home late Thursday with no success.

Friday they headed to a different part of the area,

and came home with this big cow elk.

(They forgot the camera, so Hannah took this

picture when they returned.)

On Oct. 6th they headed out to get their bucks,

and packed enough equipment to set up a full-on camp.

They wanted to immerse

themselves in the whole "hunting" experience.

(it's a guy thing.)

They found the right place, and actually

shot at a buck or two before they

even had camp set up. But, they decided

to relax and get camp set up before

they got too carried away. :)

After dinner they went for an evening hunt,

and around the corner was

a buck standing on the horizon.

Spencer took the first shot, and

maimed the poor thing.

(blew his back leg off:()!) Then LaVoy shot

and put it out of it's misery.

One down, one to go. . .

After a snugly night in their tent, and after

seeing more deer thanthey ever dreamed of,

Spencer got his buck.

A nice little four point.

They probably could have got a trophy buck,

if they would have hunted longer.

But Spencer said he was ready to come home,

and I was glad for that!
